If you are involved in a car accident or motorbike accident ensure that you obtain the insurance details of all drivers involved. Under s 154 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 all drivers involved must supply details of their insurance. It is a criminal offence to either refuse or to supply false information.
If possible preserve evidence by taking photographs of the accident scene before it is tidied up and obtain full details of all witnesses to the road traffic accident whether the police attended the scene or not. These witnesses may be able to corroborate your version of events and increase the chances of successfully claiming compensation.
