Why Do I Need to Make a Will?

Making a Will allows you to make financial provisions for your partner and your family. If you do not make a Will, the law will decide who receives all your assets in accordable with pre-ordained rules. These unfortunately may not coincide with your own wishes.

If you would like to leave certain items or large sums of money to family, friends or charities, you will be able to state this in your Will. Our will writing solicitors will be able to offer advice about making a will and what you should include.

Children

If you have young children you should appoint guardians to look after them in the event of your death. An appointment in your Will can save family disputes and ensure your wishes are carried out.

You may also want to provide for money to be invested until a child reaches 18 or some greater age. Our Will writing solicitors will advise you how best to provide for this in your Will. We can help you to appoint suitable Trustees and if required, provide the Trustees with investment advice.

Inheritance tax

Everyone needs a Will, and everyone has the right to determine where assets go after you pass away. You do not have to be wealthy to need a Will – the value of your entire estate may be worth a lot more than you think. Providing personal and expert guidance, we can offer advice on inheritance tax and how best to minimise its impact.

Our expert Will writing solicitors can explain how insurance policies or trusts could help save tax and ensure that your assets are maintained for your family.

Our tax planning service can provide detailed advice in the case of more complicated estates.

We provide a full advice service concerning wealth creation, inheritance tax and financial preservation. If you are interested in investment and insurance products that can help you protect your assets, then talk to us to see what we can offer you. In conjunction with our associated Financial planning company, DKM Wealth Limited, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, we can make sure you receive the all-round advice that is essential for effective Will and inheritance tax planning.

Executors

Executors are the people who deal with your Estate in the event of your death. You need to decide who you want to carry your wishes out as expressed in your Will.

We can provide making a will advice to help you with your decision. If you wish, a partner in this firm will act as your Executor. We have 100 years experience in dealing with estates and we are pleased to offer this service to our clients and their families.

Last wishes

If you wish to give your executor instructions about your funeral or donations to medicine we will prepare the necessary requests.

The cost

It is not necessarily expensive to make a Will. For many situations we can offer a fixed price solution, but if required we will tailor our service to suit. We will be transparent about our fees and provide full details in advance of the charges.

Our aim is to provide a confidential personal service at a reasonable cost.

Lasting Power of Attorney

Just as important as making a Will is to ensure that if you are incapacitated through an accident or ill health, someone is able to look after your financial affairs, including paying bills on your behalf. View more about our Lasting Power of Attorney services.
